About Dr CDr. Caragacianu ("Dr. C") graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine and completed her general surgical residency at Brown University. Her advanced training consists of a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the esteemed National Cancer Institute and a fellowship in Breast Surgery at the renowned Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School where she received the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Achievement Award, and the Miami Breast Conference Educational Grant.

Her Passion
Dr. Caragacianu has a passion for women's health and well-being. She is driven by science, advances of precision medicine in surgery, oncology, genomics and innovation. She strives to educate each patient to understand their disease process and surgical options for their disease. Dr. Caragacianu also accomplished specialized training in Milan, Italy at the European Institute of Oncology, working on intraoperative radiation for breast cancer and advanced surgical techniques. She also participated in specialized training in Oncoplastic Surgery in Paris, France under the tutelage of famous Dr. Krishna Clough and Dr. Yves Jean Petit.
A Teacher
In addition to taking care of patients, Dr. C loves teaching. She was assistant professor at Georgetown University and currently enjoys her role as assistant professor of surgery at University of Massachusetts Medical School. She embraces her role as a teacher and mentor and strongly believes that teaching also makes her a better physician.
Her Drive
She was instrumental in the development of the breast center at Hallmark Health System (affiliated with Tufts School of Medicine), and was director of Medstar’s Lafayette Breast Progam (part of Georgetown University) in Washington DC. In addition to cancer surgery, she directed the development of the high risk program, providing individualized screening, genetic counseling and care for women at higher risk of developing breast cancer due to family history, gene mutations, or history of abnormal biopsy results Dr. Caragacianu has published multiple peer-reviewed publications, in addition to co-authoring chapters and presenting on breast and thyroid cancer at international meetings. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and belongs to numerous professional organizations. Dr. C is a strong advocate of advancing the field of oncology through research and has multiple surgical interests which include optimizing surgery for cancer, identifying molecular markers and genes that cause cancer and can better predict response to therapy and prognosis, patient safety and medical ethics.

Her Belief
Dr. Caragacianu believes in personalized, precision medicine for her patients. She believes that the best oncologic and cosmetic outcome is achieved by focusing not only on treating the specific cancer of a patient, but also focusing on the individual needs of the patient, which is unique for each patient. She believes in empowering her patients to be active in their treatment decisions by providing them with education, guidance, compassionate care and emotional support. She has special interests in management of patients with hereditary breast cancer, nipple sparing mastectomy, oncoplastic surgery and breast conserving surgery, global medicine and surgery.
